Thanksgiving Message

DATE:               October 8th, 2021

TO:                   Unifor Members at SaskEnergy/TransGas, SaskPower, TSASK and Westmoreland

FROM:             Trevor Davies, Unifor Local 649 President

Sisters and Brothers,

Thanksgiving weekend yet again will be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and it will be an unusual one for all our members and their families.

Knowing that thousands of Canadians have lost loved ones or have become sick makes it hard in terms of being thankful. As front-line Crown employees you can take pride in how each and everyone of you have stepped up and been there for the people of this province when it has counted.

You have put your health and lives on the line to help Saskatchewanians navigate through this pandemic. When much of this province was locked down over the last year or two, you were at your continued, keeping the lights on and the gas flowing, providing some continuity that folks could hold on to.

We are now in the midst of the fourth wave, and we’ve got more tough weeks and months ahead, but we will get through this pandemic thanks to all of you.

This weekend, try to take some time with those in your household and enjoy the holiday. If you live alone, we appreciate this is a tough weekend, but your Local 649 family is with you. Thank you for following public health guidelines. Where possible, connect virtually with family and friends and remember, we’re all in this together.  Stay safe and thank you for all you do.

Happy Thanksgiving,

In Solidarity,
